Primary Election: Saturday, August 13, 2016
Early Walk-in Voting: August 1-11, 2016
If you are a Permanent Absentee Mail Voter you should be receiving your primary ballot. *Please mail your completed ballot in as soon as possible as it must be received by 6pm on Election Day to be counted. It must also be signed in order to be counted. Or you may take your ballot to Honolulu Hale (City Hall) or Kapolei Hale (Satellite City Hall) during early walk-in voting.
If you have recently registered to vote and have questions call the City Clerk’s office at 768-3800 or go to http://www.honoluluelections.us.
The deadline to apply for an absentee application for the primary is August 6, 2016. Call the City Clerk’s office.
This Primary election could decide the next mayor of Honolulu. If one of the three leading candidates garners 50% + 1 of the vote then he wins and does not have to compete in the General election. If none of them receive this amount then the two top vote-getters will go on to the General in November.
We encourage you to view an upcoming mayoral debate with the three candidates on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 on KGMB-TV or livestreaming.
*If you have “Permanent Mail Voter” status it can be terminated if you do not return your completed ballot by 6pm on Election day.
